019. What's That ONE Thing That Makes The Difference?
Have you ever been to a lumberjack competition? Where they cop down trees?
There was once this old-timer that everybody called, “Gramps.” He entered this lumberjack competition to win $5,000. There were 20 people who entered and all except him were in their 20s.
When the competition began, the men scurried to their chopping blocks. After about an hour, everyone saw Gramps decide to take a break. He mozied on over to a little bungalow for 5 or 10 minutes, then came back out.
An hour later, the same things happened. Every hour on the hour, he took a 5 to 10 minute break in that same little house.
When all was said and done, they counted the trees that each man cut down. The winner: GRAMPS.
Everyone was surprised and shocked. How could this be? Gramps was twice the age, if not more, than the young guns.
The youngest in the competition was so curious, he asked Gramps, “What were you doing up in that shack?”
Gramps replied, “Sharpening my axe. It’s about working hard and working smart. You all were just working hard.”
Little by little, a little becomes a lot. One little thing was the difference that made the difference.
