Master Your Mindset: Dive into the Mental Skills Mechanics Membership for Athletes
Over the past year I’ve taken a little time off from the website, podcast, and social media to get clear on where I was headed next with my business. During that time I was working with my 1-1 clients and teams like University of Florida, Colorado School of Mines, and Horizon High School, while also taking time to get outdoors and get some clarity on where I was headed.
I’m not going to lie, I was definitely a little lost. Nothing felt motivating or inspiring and I couldn’t wrap my head around where I wanted to go. But after a backpacking trip with my two childhood friends, Zack and Johnny, I had a realization:
I have so many programs I have been running with teams and individuals for the past 5 years, so why not make them all available online? Why not create a place where everyone can access the mental skills programs I’ve been running?
It took awhile and I tried several different times on multiple different platforms, but it just felt too confusing and the user experience wasn’t what I wanted.
But that’s all changed. With the help of my team, Sean and Patrick Holbrook, we figured it out and created the Mental Skills Mechanics Membership.
There are already 11 videos up in our Confidence Building Course and I will be releasing a new video every two weeks to further enhance the members Mental Skills Mechanics. Which brings me to a quick origin story of why we decided to call it the Mental Skills Mechanics.
In every sport, you have your mechanics for how to swing, throw, shoot, run, etc. But what are the mechanics for your mental game? What are the fundamentals? What is the way mental skills is done and practiced?
I played the cello for 18 years, and when I first got started, I just sawed away on that thing for hours. Then, I started working on my scales. Every time I touched my cello, I played scales. They’re the fundamentals of every great piece: Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart… knowing my scales allowed me to play these works of art.
The programs I have put inside the Mental Skills Mechanics are the scales. They’re videos and resources you can return to time and time again to sharpen your skillset or help others get that edge.
Hopefully you check it out, but if not, we’ll be sending out emails and putting up little blurbs, tips, and tricks on our social media, because regardless of if you want to go deep, we’ll still be providing and giving back because mental skills are needed now more than ever. As an athlete of mine said yesterday in our 1-1 call, “I honestly don’t know what to do.” I’m committed to helping athletes build self-reliance and providing them with the “what to do.”
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I felt it necessary to let the community members know what we’ve been up to, where I’ve been, and where we’re going before beginning this journey.
