Jimmy Holbrook is the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at University of California Irvine (UCI). Jimmy Holbrook and I dive deep into how “older” individuals look at young people in the workplace, holding kids to a higher standard, being persistent as a coach and player, how to trust yourself when making decisions, and what luck really is.

He is currently working with the men’s and women’s soccer teams, track teams, and men’s water polo. Prior to UCI he was the Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at University of West Alabama where he worked with baseball, football, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball and track. Before UWA he interned under Zach Dechant at Texas Christian University (TCU) where he worked with baseball, football, basketball, and volleyball. He received his bachelorettes in Exercise Science from Central Michigan University where he worked closely with the head and assistant strength coaches for four years. Also, he holds an impressive record of squatting 315 for 43 reps straight without rest.

Pazik’s BIG 3 Questions:

  1. How are you 23 years old and have an assistant coaching position at a DI university?

  2. How do you hold athletes to a higher standard?

  3. What is the amount of work you have to put in until things start paying off for you?
