Pete D’Amour and I dive into going pitch-to-pitch, dealing with adversity, and being empathetic with your athletes. We also talk about how important it is to find the positive and create perspective in EVERY situation.
Pete D’Armour is currently the Head Softball coach at Virginia Tech. Before coaching the Hokies, he was the head softball coach at Kennesaw State, and before that, he was the assistant coach and associate head coach at University of Missouri for 10 years. Just some quick stats to lay down for you which is one of the reasons I’m excited to have him on today:
While at Mizzou, the squad made it to the NCAA tournament every year that he was there including 3 back-to-back-to-back college world series appearances in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
While at Kennesaw state, in the two years he was there, they went to the postseason twice.
Moves over to Virginia Tech and has a 24 game improvement from the previous year’s team.
Even cooler, he played men’s fastpitch softball for 7 years, played college baseball for 2, and something that I personally find exciting… Pete D’Amour has a masters degree in sport psychology that he received from University of Missouri.
